Root Canal Therapy

When the inside of a tooth becomes inflamed or infected, root canal therapy may be recommended to relieve discomfort and help save the natural tooth.

During treatment, the infected or damaged tissue inside the tooth is carefully removed, the area is cleaned and disinfected, and the tooth is sealed to help prevent further infection. After root canal therapy, a crown is typically recommended to protect and strengthen the tooth and reduce the risk of fracture.

At your visit, Dr. Jee will evaluate the tooth, discuss the findings with you, and review the appropriate treatment options. Our goal is to help you make an informed decision while keeping you as comfortable as possible throughout your care.

Common questions

How do I know if I need a root canal?
Common signs may include persistent tooth pain, sensitivity to hot or cold, discomfort when biting or chewing, swelling, or tenderness around a tooth. Sometimes, however, a tooth that needs root canal treatment may have few or no symptoms. An examination and dental X-rays can help determine the cause of the problem.
Is a root canal painful?
Root canal treatment is performed using local anesthetic to keep the area numb and comfortable. Many patients seek treatment because the tooth is already painful or infected, and treating the source of the problem can help relieve that discomfort.
